PRIMARY PURPOSE: MTSS provides a regular opportunity for educators to collaborate and problem-solve regarding students with learning and/or behavior difficulties.
SECONDARY PURPOSE: These teams also fulfill the “Child Find” requirement as outlined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA - Federal special education law). This mandate requires states and in turn local districts to have a process to identify children (birth to 26 in Michigan) who may have a disability or impairment and be in need of special education services.
